Dig Deeper

When there’s no turning back, then we should concern ourselves only with the best way of going forward. Paulo Coelho.

In our interconnected, social-media global universe in which we all find ourselves, finding your way forward is truly a challenge.

Running with the crowd won’t cut it anymore.

Sometimes it’s better to cut back the time spent on our digital devices, stop studying other peoples methods and ideas, looking for the right direction.

Better to dig deeper and find your own story.

It’s the only way.

Stay curious. Stay interested. Stay interesting.

I hope to see you back here soon. As always, thank you for reading me.

A FEW THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS:

Have you recently found yourself wondering if, perhaps, there is more you could be doing? Something more fulfilling and engaging? Or closer to the point, something that more reflects who YOU have grown into over the years?

Need encouragement and someone with whom you could do some strategic exploring, to refresh your spirit and meet the many challenges of today’s new world? To help you move on to the next phase of your life?

You’re at the right place. If you are really ready, read my approach to coaching. For A COMPLIMENTARY, CONFIDENTIAL CONVERSATION text/call me at 416.450.8867 or email drew@drewsimmie.com. Follow me on LinkedIn.

Don’t Sell Yourself Short

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. Anais Nin.

high-wire-act-drew-simmie

From time to time many of us have experienced occasions when we silently think about chucking a job or a career in which we have long ago lost interest and starting something new, something we have never before – only at the last moment to back off, afraid of failure.

The majority prefer things and situations over which they have control and that are predictable. It’s better that way, they think, safer.

Better the devil you know than the one you don’t, goes the old adage.

Wrong. When you buy into that falsehood, you do yourself a great disservice.

There is nothing sure in life. There are no guarantees that you will always be successful when you try something new, but when you step back from something of which you know you are capable and think is for you, you are selling yourself short.

You won’t know until you try. If not now, then when?

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.

Thank you, as always, for reading me

Step aside Picasso

drew-simmie-picasso-peace_smEvery child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he/she (italics mine) grows up. Pablo Picasso.

Artistry isn’t only confined to the fine arts. There is artistry in business, too.

There is art in the creation of your brand, and in the  execution of your marketing strategy, particularly in these mind-consuming digital times.

Then, as well, there is artistry in timing. Being too early is as bad as being too late. As the expression goes, timing is everything.

Lots to think about…

Paint a bigger picture of you  and what you think life is really all about.

And politely but firmly tell Picasso to step aside.

Stay interested. Stay interesting. Stay relevant.

I hope to see you back here soon. As always, thank you for reading me.

Hard Work Holds the Key

You say I am a dreamer but I’m not the only one. John Lennon.

show-up-for-work-each-day-drew-simmie

It’s challenging these days to hold on to your dreams. At every turn fear, negativity and pessimism rear their ugly heads. The world appears to be breaking into two camps. One is sure that we are all going to hell in a hand basket so don’t bother. The other says no, no no…..the future is bright if we are open to the new opportunities and changes that must be made.

It has always been thus. Whatever the time or the circumstances, the dreamers, the small, imaginative minority has always been responsible for improving humankind’s lot. It isn’t easy.

No great work or extraordinary accomplishment in any field of endeavour has ever seen the light of day without unending belief in yourself and courage.

But here’s the thing:

To make it happen, however bright your idea or how worthy, dreaming isn’t enough.

With a nod to John Lennon, imagination is just the start…

Hard work holds the key.

Stay interested. Stay interesting. Stay relevant.

I hope to see you back here soon. As always, thank you for reading me.
