“Some people see things as they are and ask ‘Why’?. I dream things that never were and say ‘Why not?’ George Bernard Shaw.
Some choices are more difficult to make than others. It’s always the most important ones that are the hardest.
The most fundamental one is how you view life. Everything flows from there.
Our society is entering a trying time. Buffeted by a steady stream of threatening, pressing issues, it is easier to think that the good times of the past 40-50 years are fast fading from view, or you can think of life as a wonderful, magical ride, albeit with with many bumps and unexpected sharp curves but well worth the ticket – and devote your time and energy to what you know really matters and holds meaning for you.
Speaking for my myself, as far as I know, we only make the trip once; no one has reported back to the contrary.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass … It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
~ Anonymous, more recently attributed to Vivian Greene.
There is no way to completely eliminate uncertainty in our day to day existence. After all, life does not stand still, it’s up to us to determine how we will respond to life’s challenges, disruptions, storms.
Sure, there are a lot of issues that must be addressed, but as ominous as the sky may look at times, it’s not falling in. There are many people just like you, never giving up, doing what they believe is the right thing, moving ahead, trying to make a difference.
Life is about learning to live with, even embrace the inevitable storms, the rainy days of life. To dance between the light and darkness, between happiness and unhappiness, between the raindrops, though it can require courage, resilience, positivity and compassion.
Most importantly, remember who you are and what you stand for.
Life can only be understood backwards but it must lived forwards. ~ Soren Kierkegaard.
The only thing we can really know about the future is that it will be different from today and it will arrive whether we want it to or not.
Life does not remain stagnant. We’re forever growing, learning and maturing, constantly in motion. None of us are who we were when we started out.
Events and people change, and they change us, touch us, impact us, just as we change them. Even in life’s most difficult challenges, a new, more weathered, aware, self emerges.
Loving and losing, suffering losses and celebrating gains, we pass through many lives, as we walk through the years, on our way to becoming whom we were meant to be …
“And once the storm is over you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won’t be the same person who walked in.”
~ Haruki Murakami
If you knew that today was the last day of your life, would you keep on doing what you are doing?
How often have you asked yourself such a question or one like it? You know … it isn’t the answers you get from others when you ask, but the questions you ask yourself that will determine what kind of person you will ultimately become.
Each of us has a unique flame in our hearts for something that makes us feel alive. It is up to you to find yours and keep it lit.
