Leadership… One Person at a Time.

Confident / Willing to learn / Insightful / Committed / Inspiring

There is so much talk these days about how sorely we are lacking leadership – in every sphere.

So what is a leader? She or he is someone who is confident – doing what they believe is the right thing to do, to see things through, even as they are mocked or ridiculed. They are willing to take risks and go the extra mile for their side. They believe in themselves and in their ability.

They are open to change, have a desire to improve themselves and others. They are willing to learn, to ask questions and accommodate others views and opinions.

They are insightful and have a keen understanding of human behaviour and able to convey the emotions that influences people’s actions.

They are committed to the company or the group, committed to being their best.

And by word and deed, they inspire and influence others to be their best and impel them forward.

But when we look around, we see very few examples of leadership – at every level. What we see and hear, instead, is expediency, spin, shading or hiding the truth and concern about getting reelected instead of doing good.

Leadership doesn’t come from the invested top. It can only come from the bottom, from the ground up – individually, from within, one person at a time.
