In The Blink Of An Eye

Life moves very fast. It rushes us from heaven to hell in a matter of seconds. Paulo Coelho.

FlashingsecondHow many times have you caught yourself saying, “I don’t know where the time went.”

It is a common lament. Life is moving so fast. We are all so busy, just trying to keep up, ‘staying alive.’ The days quickly turn into weeks, weeks into months and before we know it, we’re all toasting another new year.

The stress and strain is relentless. Life can catch up to you if you are not careful. You can get so focused on the ‘big stuff’ that you can overlook the small things, the ordinary moments that can make such a difference in your life, in the lives of those around around you, and in the things that really matter.

What can you do to reduce the stress and make time for some of those ordinary moments? Here are five things to get you started:

  1. A adopt and attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for all that you have.
  2. Share joy, and not negativity. There is more than enough of it around. You don’t need to add to it.
  3. Consume mindfully. Pause before buying. Ask yourself; do I need this or simply want it?
  4. Decide how you are going to feel when you walk out the door in the morning. Don’t let one person’s single remark or action ruin your whole day.
  5. Choose your friends with care. If you strive to be spiritually strong, supportive and positive, seek those characteristics in others and help them develop those traits by living them yourself.

Some days, the journey of life can seem agonizing long, but it passes in the blink of an eye.
