Insightful Leadership

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. John Quincy Adams.

In an era that demands innovation, persistence and a view that is longer than the next quarter, the role of an aware, insightful leader is to foster a work place that unleashes human spirit and creates an environment in which people can excel and thrive.

Leadership is not about a position or a title, but an outlook on life; how she or he sees their place in the world and how they relate to those around them.

They derive their direction and focus from an inner, spiritual purpose. They are very clear about their life’s purpose and direction. They know who they are and speak their own truth.

Insightful leaders have integrity. They are trustworthy and have a strong moral base. They define their organization on shared ideals and values but at the same time are demanding and have high expectations.

The old carrot and stick model of leadership is dead and buried. Insightful leaders inspire, they don’t motivate.

They are committed to personal growth, continuous learning, collaboration and open to reflection. They are not too proud to admit mistakes and can change strategies if required.

Leading is never an easy task, but as competition just keeps on coming, the success of any size organization in the 21st Century rests on the shoulders of an insightful leader.

If this is resonating and you are in the Toronto area, I have curated an up-graded edition of The Idea Lab. The next date is Feb 18. It’s an entirely different kind of gathering, a personal growth experience for people of like minds who are courageous, impatient and hungry for more.
