Life isn’t always sunshine and roses. Sometimes it’s bloody tough.

When it’s the latter and there are days when your courage is thin, double down. If it’s a big problem, break it up into smaller, manageable bits. Find the solution, one bit at a time.

Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint. Take each day as it comes and show up for work everyday.

With so many changes pressing, it isn’t going to be easy, but hey, no one ever promised easy.

New opportunities abound. Keep on marching ahead.

Never, ever, give up on you.

In these challenging times, when so much seems totally out of whack, when fake news is given unwarranted currency, when leadership at all levels is so often wanting, keeping ourselves on the straight and narrow and focused on what is meaningful in our lives demands personal leadership.

Real leaders take responsibility for themselves. They are absolutely clear about their path. They lead with constant self-awareness, passion and grace.

Personal leadership is all about being real, authentic; being open to others and receptive to ideas different from ours.  It is about staying committed through thick and thin, and having the courage to do the right things, rather than doing things right.

Leadership, as it is often said, is like good art. We can’t always describe exactly what it is but we know it when we see it.

And we certainly need it. Like right now

You hear and read daily about how the world is changing, but in reality, it is we who are changing.

Change is not new. Down through the millennia, it has always been with us. Like it or not, we can’t hold it at bay. Life isn’t about what you did yesterday. It’s about what you are doing today and planning for tomorrow.

It is about continually learning, growing and sharing: sharing love, sharing success, knowledge and ideas. Helping others along their path, making a positive difference and doing stuff that matters.

All of this to say, if you are not altogether happy with your life and the picture you see, let today be the day to break with conventional wisdom and the status quo.

Vow to unlock your heart, unleash your creativity, screw up your courage – and try something new. Something that will engage your whole being, not just your wallet.

There is no yes in yesterday.

Get a handle on today.

A lot of life is about the choices you make.

Some are more difficult to make than others. It’s always the most important ones that are the hardest.

The most fundamental one is how you view life. Everything flows from there.

Our society is entering a trying time. Buffeted by a steady stream of threatening, pressing issues, it is easier to think that the good times of the past 40-50 years are fast fading from view, or you can think of life as a wonderful, magical ride, albeit with with many bumps and unexpected sharp curves but well worth the ticket – and devote your time and energy to what you know really  matters and holds meaning for you.

In his book, Seize The Day, Saul Bellow wrote, “If you think that historical forces are sending everybody straight to hell, you can either go resignedly with the procession or hold out, and hold out not from pride or other personal motives, but from admiration and love for human abilities and powers which, without exaggeration, the words ‘miracle’ and ‘sublimity’ can be applied.”

Read his words again. This time, say them slowly and out loud so you can hear your own voice speaking.

Every day is precious. Speaking for my myself, as far as I know, we only make the trip once; no one has reported back to the contrary.

It’s your call. No one can make it for you

In our interconnected, interdependent global universe in which we all find ourselves, the competition isn’t between you and your competitors.

It’s between you and your imagination.

Running with crowd won’t cut it anymore.

Sometimes it’s better to cut back the time spent on our digital platforms, stop studying other peoples methods and ideas, looking for the right path forward.

Better to go deeper and find your own story.

It’s the only way.
