Over To You.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. T. S. Eliot.

In our super competitive, hyper-connected world today, finding your way successfully forward is truly a challenge.

Running with the crowd won’t cut it anymore.

Sometimes it’s better to reduce the time spent on our digital devices, studying other peoples methods and ideas looking for the right direction.

Better to dig deeper and look for your own story to tell.

Keep learning. Keep growing.

Over to you…

I hope to see you back here soon. As always, thank you for reading me.

A MOMENT OF REFLECTION: Have you recently found yourself wondering if, perhaps, there is more you could be doing? Something more meaningful and engaging? Or closer to the point, as you move on to what’s new and exciting, something that more reflects who YOU have grown into over the years? Need some help getting there?

Ask your way to success. It’s OK to ask for help. Perhaps I could be of assistance.

Do the right thing

Recently I came across something called The Rotary 4 Way Test – a personal and business ethical guideline penned some 60 years ago by Herbert Taylor, a member of Rotary International in Chicago:

do-the-right-thing

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Doing the right things rather than doing things right takes courage. It certainly isn’t always easy and often comes with a cost, but that doesn’t mean we should turn a blind eye.

Hmmm..

Put The Accent On The Positive

You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Carter Crocker.

In the main, to a greater or lesser extent, much of what we are is the result of our past thoughts, experiences and subsequent actions.

Sometimes we stay in a situation, even if we don’t like it, just because it’s comfortable… you know, the proverbial comfort zone.

Some are OK with that, others not so much.

Not in today’s new world.

The thing is, of course, is that if you want to jump start your game,  you’ll have to put something different into the mix.

And that requires stepping out of your comfort zone, upping your learning curve, taking a leap of faith and experimenting with risk.

Taking a new direction means changing your perspective, looking at everything in a new and different way… starting with the decision to stop looking back, picturing a brighter future and then putting the accent, not on the negative, but on the positive.

Hmm…

Never, Ever Give Up.

persistence-drew-simmie-2

How we spend our days is how we spend our lives. Annie Dillard.

Of the many traits successful people exhibit, one of the most helpful is the ability to adapt to the unexpected and the new.

They have learned, through trial and error, that success doesn’t come over night. They know there are no quick fixes. No short cuts.

There is just hard work, consistency, generosity of spirit, transparency and an ever present willingness to adapt to change. Did I mention courage?

On top of everything everything else, they have an over-riding belief in themselves and that when faced with a challenge they will prevail.

And they never, ever give up

Stand Tall. Remain Hopeful.

Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out.
Vaclav Havel.

These are challenging times. There is a host of pressing issues with no easy, quick fixes:

Climate change, economic disruption, the widening economic disparity, racial inequality, the advance of AI and now the spectre warfare in other parts of the world.

In spite of it all, though, we must not give in.

And in face of all this adversity, we must continue to look to a better future, stand tall and, above all remain hopeful.

Fingers crossed.
