Doing Things Right

Managing is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right things. Peter Drucker.

3-thingsAware/Creative/Collaborative/Service-Driven/Different/Leaner…

These are just some of the words that describe the leading companies in today’s economy.

Whether you are leading yourself or your own business, here are three questions to consider:

  1. What real value are you adding?
  2. What major problems do you help your clients solve?
  3. How effective is your market strategy?

Doing the right things isn’t alway easy. In fact, in many instances, it is usually the hardest, but in today’s market place, it’s the only choice.

Oh, and one more question. How many of the words in the above list apply to your business?

Fly With the Eagles.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. Mark Twain.

Whatever your dream, whatever you’re building widen your circle of people with like minds, fellow travellers who will nourish your soul, broaden your mind and lighten your heart.

The road is always a little smoother when you are flying with the eagles and not with the ducks.

Personal Leadership

Steve_JobsWe hear so much nowadays about leadership. Most people see leadership as leading a company or a department or a project, but the more I work with clients, the more I am convinced that leadership starts with leading ourselves.

In fact, as we continue to grapple with the ongoing changes and challenges facing us in the work place and in our own lives, the more I believe personal leadership is more critical than ever.

It comes from within. People who live a personal leadership style are open to change and collaboration. They thrive on synergism. Even in uncertain times, they are upbeat and believe things can get better.

They are confident. They see value in what they are doing, constantly sharing, focused on the win-win rather than always going for the win-lose, increasing hope and creating positive outcomes.

Simplify, Simplify.

minimalism

We have so much cluttering up our lives these days. There seems to be so much STUFF – in our homes our work places, too. We are hardly conscious of it all.

Cleaning our the extraneous stuff you never use creates more space – physically, and in your mind too. When you get rid of the external clutter, the internal clutter will start disappearing, as well. Give it a try. Resolve today to start throwing out the stuff you haven’t used for years and those ideas that haven’t worked for so long… your mind will thank you.

Energy Begets Energy

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

In today’s competitive environment, no business model will produce the results you are looking for if you are just going through the motions – doing the same old things the same old way. You’ll only lose your spirit.

Show some passion. Energy begets energy.
