Using the tools that work.

drew_simmie_tools

It’s hard to believe there wasn’t a time when when we didn’t have the and Internet and Social media. The change is mind boggling.

On every level of our lives – especially in the sales and marketing arenas.

There’s Face Book, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest, Google, You Tube, blogs, apps… seems everyday there is a new entrant.

The big thing, of course, about Social Media is that you don’t need to be a marketing giant to sell your product. You just need to understand the power of social media and how it can work for you.

Whatever media you choose, though, getting it right is critical, because if no one knows you or your product/service, they can’t buy it. Nothing happens until you sell something or close a deal

At the end of the day the best selling tools are not only the sexy ones – they are the ones that work.

Taking Risks

take-a-risk

Blog Entry 12 August 2013 Taking Risks

Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don’t bother just to do better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself. William Faulkner.

If you have never been scared or embarrassed or failed at anything it means you haven’t taken any chances. Happiness and the feeling of being alive comes from putting yourself out there, taking a risk for something you really care about.

The future belongs to the risk takers. They are the doers, the producers, inventing and leading markets. They advance society and in so doing enrich their own lives and others.

Loving your business, feeling the passion.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Passion inspires innovation and generates energy.

It is only when you are fully engaged that you can pass along the great feeling to your clients or customers. If you can’t feel it, they won’t either.

In today’s hyper charged competitive climate, there’s a good chance that no business model will produce the results you are looking for if you are just going through the motions – doing the same old things the same old way. You’ll only lose your spirit.

You’ve gotta love your business. Energy begets energy.

Make it Happen.

drew_simmie_smile

Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. A “you can do it!” when things get tough. Richard M.DeVos.

Staying positive isn’t always easy, but whatever you’re doing, whether you are working for yourself or someone else or keeping a family together, the trick is to ignore the pessimism and negativity, put your head, focus on what you need to do to get the job done.

Keep building credibility and influence.
Consistantly deliver value.
And do – and be – the best you can.

That will be enough.

An Unexpected Gift

Last week, I received a hand written note from a client who had to unexpectedly cancel a meeting at which, along with a colleague, I was scheduled to speak.

When I opened up the envelope, to my delight, along with a few words of apology I found a Starbucks gift card. Hand written. Snail mail, too!

A gift given unexpectedly when there is no special occasion, to me at least, is even more appreciated than when it is given out of duty or because it is expected. It shows special consideration and thoughtfulness.

I don’t know about you but in our age of over indulgence and conspicuous consumption, my favourite gift to give and to receive is a book or a gift of music in some form because the value of both far exceeds the gift itself and lasts longer.

When you give a book, you give knowledge. When you give music, you give love
