Stay Relevant

The future depends on what you do today. Mahatma Gandhi.

It has been a rough couple of years, challenging in so many ways.

The pandemic isn’t finished with us quite yet, but as we get beyond the worst of it, the conundrum facing many is whether to just give full throttle to their current activities or, perhaps, referencing their lockdown pledges, pause for a deep rethink about the arc of their lives.

Big thoughts, I know, but that’s what a pandemic does. As we all begin to adjust to the new realities, there isn’t a better time than now to refresh and, if necessary, repurpose.

All with the aim of staying relevant.

Be real. Do the work. Wherever you go on from here, know that you have all you need to maximize your potential, step up your life and be the best version of yourself that you can be.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.  As always, thank you for reading me.

I look forward to seeing you back here soon.

Positive Self Talk Can Do It!

Promise yourself  that you will talk health, happiness and prosperity as often as possible. John Wooden.

Success doesn’t magically land in your lap. There are a number of factors that determine your level of success. Among the many, top achievers know that positive self-talk has a huge bearing on their success.

Never underestimate the strong belief you have in yourself and the value of positive self-talk. Constantly remind yourself that underpinning all your work, your belief system can carry the day.

Put another way, if you don’t believe you can do it, you can’t. If you believe you can,  you can.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.

I hope to see you back here soon. As always, thank you for reading me.

Sharing With Others In Anxious Times

He who divides and shares is left with the best share. Mexican Proverb.

sharing-troubled-times

What is time if we don’t share it?

What is gratitude if we don’t share it?

What is experience if we don’t share it?

What is knowledge if we don’t share it?

What is love if we don’t share it?

What is compassion if we don’t share it?

When you share with others, you’ll be amazed at what comes back to you.

Hmmm… something to reflect upon in anxious times.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.

I hope to see you back here soon.

Stand Strong!

steer-the-ship-drew-simmie

Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that somethings makes sense regardless of how it turns out. Vaclav Havel.

Life is a never ending series of choices, some easier, others not so much. We make them everyday. They affect every aspect of our lives. One of the most critical choices, I believe, is choosing whether to be an optimist or a pessimist.

Particularly at this moment in history. With our hearts and minds fixated on the events in Ukraine Vaclav Havel’s words read truer than ever.

These are perilous times. The challenges to the liberal, democratic order are many. Clearly there are a good many pressing issues that need addressing.

It is hard to stand strong, but it’s what we must do.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay determined.

I hope to see you back here soon.

Honour Human Rights

On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly passed into law the International Human Rights Principles to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals or groups everywhere.

Maya-Angelou-womans-day-4

In 1995, on the 50th anniversary of that occasion, Maya Angelou was invited to address the United Nations Assembly in New York. In front of the then US president and heads of states from all the world, Maya Angelou passionately read her poem, A Brave and Startling Truth.

It spoke volumes then as it does now.

Travel back 27 years and listen again to her plea.

Think Ukraine.

Hmm…

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.

Thank you for reading me. I hope to see you back here soon.
